Automatic egg tray turner with 45CCW - 0 - and 45CW postition : cheap version

Cheap doesn't mean bad quality or performance. The industrial standard we have incorporated will ensure this device will last longer than you may expected. CHP Egg Tuner Control Module Kit will be launched within this week. It supports egg incubators that load not more than 200 eggs. These pictures show the control module and a cheap and little - but high torque AC motor. 

Fairly simple installation and wiring, just plug in the cord to mains. 

The installation is incredibly simple. All you have to do is plug the AC cord to mains. Just it. Time delay duration of turning can be adjusted with fuse bit by selecting values of DIP switch according to given map.

Attention: 
You can't even find any transformer there since it is transformerless design. One you have to beware of, it has no isolation from mains. This is aimed for professional egg incubator builders and not for the amateur or novice.

The gears actually for chain application and of course the spur type gear would be better. But the cost will lead us to choose this stuff. Actually I bought these gears Rp. 9.000,-/pcs. But you can find it cheaper of course. I have found someone sold it around Rp. 4.000,-/pcs on the net.

Cast steel/iron has significant weight and reduces the motor power. Plastic reduction spur gears should do better. In case of you cannot find cheap plastic gear, you can create a mold and try resin casting . All you have to buy are RTV rubber silicone and resin. You can find my page about creating a mold  later.

The gear pair is reduction gear type that will smoothen the movement and multiply the torque. The video below shows it.

The Motor

The secret is finally revealed. Even professional look small egg incubators use this AC motor. Simple, low RPM and high torque featured. 

You can buy this motor for about Rp. 15,000 to 20,000/pcs. Just print this web page and show the motor pic to local electrical shop in your town. I bet they are familiar with this motor.

The major disadvantage is the control difficulty. But you don't have to bother yourself for making the control since I will soon introduce the cheap control module to the market. It is simpler and cheaper than you may imagine, lol. 

This video shows this little motor can push my wife kitchen scales and show the value of 5 pounds (you know, whatever we are, men usually borrow their wife's kitchen stuffs). The small wonder ... 

Now its time to try the bigger one. Lets take a look at this pic :

I mounted what she had created yesterday. Not really the perfect one, but it run smoother than before since it has bigger gears ratio. By the way, the little AC motor is fool enough to turn in opposite direction. We need a complicated circuitry to make this motor can run left or right. The case we never find on DC motor. But thanks to this fool but tricky motor. It can run to opposite direction after bumping an obstacle. All we have to do is putting an obstacle in -45 degree and another one at 45 degree. It doesn't matter the tray moves to the left, bumps the obstacle and then finds its direction at the right. Why do we bother to choose this AC motor then? Because it is cheap. It is only Rp. 15.000,- compared to gearbox DC motor that cost more than Rp. 350.000,-. You know, I am too poor to afford that gearbox DC motor, lol.
